Subject: Issue of drug addiction

Sir/Madam,

Through an article in your newspaper, I would like to draw attention towards the issue of child labor.

My area is going under a little bit of construction lately and I have noticed disturbingly that there are children as young as 9 or 10 years old that are employed there. These children do the work of normal laborers and are paid at the end of the day. This was very disturbing to me as I know that child labor is a punishable offense and that no child must go through such an adversity as this.

I have been looking around and researching about whom to report such a crime like this for a proper action against the person. The people who are letting the children do such jobs should be put behind bars.

I hope that the columns of your newspaper will help this issue reach the concerned authorities and that the person behind all of this should be given a proper punishment.

Thanking you !

Dear [Congressperson's Name],

I am writing to express my concern about child labor in the United States and to urge you to take action to protect children from this harmful practice. As you know, child labor is the exploitation of children for work that is considered to be harmful to their health or education. Despite the fact that laws have been enacted to protect children from such exploitation, child labor continues to be a significant problem in the U.S.

The issue of child labor is not a new one in the U.S. In the early 19th century, children as young as six were working in factories, mines, and other hazardous occupations, often for long hours and with little pay. It was not until the early 20th century that laws were enacted to regulate child labor and protect children from exploitation.

The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) was enacted in 1938 and established minimum wage and overtime pay requirements, as well as restrictions on child labor. The law prohibits children under the age of 14 from working in most occupations and limits the hours that children between the ages of 14 and 16 can work. However, the FLSA does allow some exemptions to these restrictions, such as for children working in agriculture or entertainment.

While the FLSA has been successful in reducing the incidence of child labor in the U.S., there is still much work to be done. According to the International Labor Organization, an estimated 152 million children worldwide are involved in child labor, with many of these children working in hazardous conditions. Some experts believe that the exemptions in the FLSA may be contributing to the problem of child labor in the U.S.

As a concerned citizen, I urge you to take action to protect children from the harms of child labor. Specifically, I urge you to consider strengthening the laws that regulate child labor in the U.S. by eliminating the exemptions that allow some children to work in hazardous occupations. I also urge you to increase funding for enforcement of child labor laws to ensure that employers are held accountable for their actions.

Thank you for your attention to this important issue.

Sincerely,

[Your Name]
