My sister Natalie wanted to grow up in seconds and not in years. I was left behind to catch up in real-time. Only two years apart, I also felt decades away from her. Natalie wanted privacy, a personal room, and their mother’s pretty possessions at ten. I longed for her cuddles, which she only dispensed when she had upset me and was sorry. I loved my big sister with every ounce of my being though she felt weighed down by my displays of affection.

“When I was your age, your aunt Jen and I weren’t close,” our mother confessed. “Now, we can’t get enough of each other. Your grandparents are old, and we share our worries and responsibilities, you know.”

I wasn’t ready to think about that—my beautiful mother being frail or my towering father using a cane. I suspected Natalie would be ahead in the care arrangements and that I would try to play catch-up. I wondered if I would always be just a shadow in Natalie’s life until the day I caught her sobbing in the hallway.

“You didn’t see anything,” Natalie said between sobs and rushed to her room, which she didn’t seal with a locked door.

Entering her neat room, which was a furniture catalog, was a privilege. The veneer of the green curtains added a layer of beauty to the windows. Except for crumbled tissues in the trashcan, nothing seemed unkempt. What had been bothering my perfect sister?

“What’s wrong?” I asked and sat on the edge of the bed to take up the smallest possible space. Then, I spotted a broken friendship bracelet by the night lamp. How could I have not noticed before? Carly hadn’t come over in months. Natalie wasn’t on the phone every free minute of Saturday and Sunday. I had been buried in books and band practice and failed to see my big sister’s loneliness. “Do you want to watch Zombie Cheer together? We don’t have to talk. We can just be…together.”

Natalie lunged at me to hold me tight and wailed until my hair was damp. I let her. Then, she dried her face with tissues and took me by the hand to the living room. Mother had already set up two big bowls of popcorn, which looked like heaps of comfort. Mother always knew everything.

Answer 1

Answer:

I'd go with A. and D.

Explanation:

The story talks about the relationships between family members, and how they are important to maintain. The narrator describes not being that close with Natalie, but still being eager to help her and spend time with her, demonstrating that Natalie can rely upon her sibling, the narrator.

I also selected D, because all the narrator had to do was be there for their sister, and vice versa. Additionally, the mother had already had popcorn prepared without even words being exchanged, demonstrating love.

A canyon is a deep valley with steep sides. Caon, the Spanish word for "tube" or "pipe," is where the English term "canyon" comes from. Despite the fact that the terms "gorge" and "canyon" are commonly used interchangeably.

A gorge is nearly always smaller and more narrowly sloped than a canyon. Tectonic activity, weathering and erosion, and river movement all contribute to the formation of canyons. The most well-known type of canyons are undoubtedly those found beside rivers. The pressure of the running water can seriously harm river beds. When sediments from the riverbed are moved downstream, a deep, narrow channel is created.

Social injustice, a pervasive and persistent issue in societies worldwide, stands as a barrier to achieving true equality and harmony. Rooted in various forms such as discrimination, prejudice, and systemic biases, social injustice cripples individuals and communities, denying them the fundamental rights and opportunities they deserve. This essay aims to shed light on the multifaceted nature of social injustice, exploring its causes, consequences, and the urgent need for transformative change.

Causes of Social Injustice:

Social injustice thrives due to deep-rooted factors such as socioeconomic disparities, discrimination based on race, gender, religion, or sexual orientation, and unequal access to resources and opportunities. These factors perpetuate cycles of poverty, marginalization, and exclusion, leading to a systemic imbalance of power and privilege.

Consequences of Social Injustice:

Social injustice perpetuates inequality and denies individuals their basic human rights. It engenders a sense of powerlessness, erodes self-worth, and hampers personal growth. Moreover, it creates social divisions, fosters resentment, and undermines social cohesion, posing a threat to the overall well-being of societies.

The Role of Education and Awareness:

Empowering marginalized communities, amplifying their voices, and providing equal opportunities are crucial steps towards addressing social injustice. Advocacy efforts and grassroots movements can raise awareness, challenge discriminatory policies, and promote social and legislative changes.

Building an Inclusive Society:

Implementing and enforcing anti-discrimination laws, diversifying representation in decision-making processes, and fostering inclusive policies are essential for progress..

Finally, we could say that social injustice remains a profound challenge that demands immediate attention. By acknowledging its causes and consequences, fostering education and awareness, empowering marginalized communities, and building inclusive societies, we can dismantle the foundations of social injustice and pave the way for a fairer, more just future. It is only through collective effort and a commitment to equality that we can unmask social injustice and create a world where every individual's rights and dignity are safeguarded.

This form of moral obligation allows individuals to distance themselves from the ethical implications of their actions by attributing them to a collective entity.
