Try putting different forms of the word find in the sentence to see if it reads smoothly. “Yesterday, Sally finds a dog,” doesn’t seem right, since the word yesterday shows that “find” should be in past tense. “Sally FOUND a dog” seems way more fitting. Although “finds” could work, the “Yesterday” hints at the word being past tense.
