1. A medical website lists the many diseases people may have without even knowing they're sick. The website then suggests that people pay $1.99 a month to use its online symptom-tracking tool. Describe why this is an example of an agenda.

2. What I've learned from raising kids is that you have to be patient. When children are small, they don't fully understand that you're a human being with your own needs: somebody who needs to sleep, work, and take care of the household, for example. Instead, they see you as a superhero. Accept that this is the way small children think and just know that their attitude will change as they mature.

How does war impact society?

Answers

Answer:

War destroys communities and families and often disrupts the development of the social and economic fabric of nations.

Answer:

Putting aside the very real human cost, war has also serious economic costs – loss of buildings, infrastructure, a decline in the working population, uncertainty, rise in debt, and disruption to normal economic activity. Negative effects of war can include loss of life, destruction of cities and the environment, and human suffering. Positive effects of war can include the defeat of problematic governments, the correction of injustices, advances in technology and medicine, and a reduction of unemployment. hope this helps.

We can infer this from the section where it says "Which home? The father home or the mother home."

This section implies that Brian's parents are divorced because his parents are living separately, in two different homes.

You might think that it is B, because he says he will probably be back home, but notice it says "by late night or early morning". He says he might be back the next day, in the morning. Therefore it is NOT B.

In 1914, Gandhi returned to India. British laws there were unjust, placing many Indians at an economic disadvantage. For example, by law Indians could only buy goods made in British factories. To protest this system, Gandhi stopped wearing cloth made in Britain. Instead, he spun his own cloth from Indian cotton. He encouraged others to do the same. The boycott worked. It hurt British clothing sales in India. It also allowed Indians to sell more of their own cloth. With more income, they wouldn't be as poor. Gandhi also fought British injustice by fasting. He would refuse to eat for five or six days. Gandhi's fasts drew public attention to his cause. Newspapers and the public began to sympathize with Gandhi. They put pressure on the British government to change its ways.

What tactics did Gandhi use to protest injustices after he returned to India? Check all that apply.

I am not quit sure what your question is but I think it is great! :-) Only thing I would change is your hook. With the hook you want something strong to grab the readers attention. Example: Would you stay out late just to suffer many consequences? (Sometjing like that) Try to use something to really make the reader think about your topic!

Looks about good! I would also suggest that you change the hook to something. Maybe talk about how research shows that kids with curfews get higher grades than kids without them(that is not a fact at all, I literally just made that up to prove a point) then you can maybe end your hook by asking a question like “So, how can curfews affect children?” then go into your first body paragraph(Remember that you do not in any way have to use these if they’re not your cup of tea, I’m just giving examples of what I might do). Other than that, you seem to be just about set. I would give more criticism for it but I would be using high school standards for a middle schooler’s essay.

Read the excerpt from "At School."

Practical job training was important. Many kids went directly from grammar school to special vocational schools sponsored by private agencies like the Children's Aid Society in New York City. The society operated separate trade schools for boys and girls. The courses offered reflected the kinds of jobs open to the students. For boys: shoemaking, printing, carpentry, sign painting, bookbinding, basketry, chair caning, janitorial work. For girls: cooking, sewing, embroidery, dressmaking, millinery, stenography, typewriting.

compare and contrast
chronological order
cause and effect
sequence of events

Scattered across the room was a downpour of paper that seemed to grow larger every day. Stella couldn't take it any longer. She was drowning in homework and projects. Life as a student at Inglewood Middle School definitely required willpower that she seemed to no longer have. Stella stared at the papers until they blurred together to make a larger mound; she gasped in fear. After a while, with trembling hands, she lifted a sheet from the very top of the stack. The entire heap of papers collapsed on top of her.

In the context of the story, what does the word drowning connote?

Answers

Answer:

the word drowning connotes that stella feels overwhelmed with her schoolwork and this feeling of being overwhelmed makes her feel likes she is drowning.

Explanation: :)

Answer:

Completely overrun

Explanation:

This is because "Determining the connotation of words and phrases often depends on how they are used in the story. In this case, Stella is overrun with papers in her room; the stacks of paper are called a downpour. Therefore, the reader can tell that the word "drowning" connotes the feeling of being completely overrun with schoolwork."

What role did Gothic literature play in people’s lives during the Middle Ages?

Answers

Answer:

Contains features that create a sense of darkness, superstition, and chaos in its setting, atmosphere, plot, characters, and other literary elements. Gothic literature is literature that is designed to terrify people (in a pleasurable way), portrays situations that are at the border between reality and unreality, and contains settings that are macabre and mysterious. It almost always involves a castle or house that includes secret passages, crypts, attics, dungeons, mazes, or certain other medieval-like features. This made way for horror stories and gothic poets such as Elger Allan Poe
